The name of a province and its form, spelling and abbreviation are to be decided by the provincial toponymy authority, with the agreement of the Government of Canada. One uses "province of British Columbia" for the geographical entity, "Province of British Columbia" for the provincial administration, "British Columbia" as the short form, and "B.C." as the abbreviation. Note the absence of hyphenation and the abbreviation without a space between the two elements abbreviated by their initial letter with a period, as the rule requires in English. 4, record 1, English, - British%20Columbia

Approved by ISO, the Canada Post two-character symbol is BC (or CA-BC). This symbol is the same in all languages and must be used only in postal addresses and statistical charts where the identification of provinces and territories is restricted to two characters.
