The name of a province and its form, spelling and abbreviation are to be decided by the provincial toponymy authority, with the agreement of the Government of Canada. One uses "province of British Columbia" for the geographical entity, "Province of British Columbia" for the provincial administration, "British Columbia" as the short form, and "B.C." as the abbreviation.
