La barre de remorquage possède un point faible, à savoir la goupille du verrou de fixation de la barre sur le réceptacle du train d'atterrissage, si au cours de la manœuvre, le débattement du train d'atterrissage arrive en butée, la goupille casse et le mouvement latéral du train d'atterrissage est arrêté. La résistance à la rupture de la goupille est fonction du type et de la masse de l'aéronef remorqué. Ce dispositif évite d'endommager la jambe du train d'atterrissage avant, sur lequel on fixe la barre de remorquage.
