HyChip uses a method called sequencing by hybridization (SBH), a process that defines an unknown strand of DNA by studying how it pairs up with a strand in which the sequence is known.

Le séquençage par hybridation (SPH). Alors que la méthode enzymatique dite méthode de Sanger peut être considérée comme une épellation de la séquence, c'est-à-dire une lecture base par base, le SPH procède par lecture de petits blocs. L'analyse porte sur des sous-séquences chevauchantes qui sont lues et réassemblées au moyen d'un programme informatique qui reconstitue la séquence étudiée.
