OBS

The bloc came into existence when England left the gold standard in 1931 and the bloc was replaced by the sterling area in 1939.

La création du bloc sterling. Un certain nombre de pays qui entretiennent des relations particulièrement étroites avec le Royaume-Uni alignent leur attitude sur celle de la Grande-Bretagne et préfèrent dévaluer leur monnaie par rapport à l'or plutôt que de modifier leur parité par rapport à la livre.

OBS

La décision de 1931 consacre la fin du rôle de la livre comme monnaie internationale unique (...) le 3 septembre 1939, la zone sterling reçoit sa définition légale.
