Les gazogènes en suspension mis au point par le CNEEMA et les établissements Pillard sont formés d'un foyer cyclone à axe horizontal : les particules, quelle que soit leur taille, sont plaquées contre la paroi par la force centrifuge. Elles sont d'abord pyrolysées à 500 °C à l'entrée de l'appareil, puis les produits de la pyrolyse sont gazéifiés à l'autre extrémité dans une zone très chaude à 1000 °C.
