L'équipe du Dr Roy est en train de monter un nouveau réacteur de décomposition thermique sous vide. Adapté de modèles industriels pour la pyrolyse conventionnelle, il sera alimenté en continu et pourra traiter en même temps deux kilos par heure de copeaux de bois. C'est un cylindre vertical divisé horizontalement en six soles (ou plateaux), chacune chauffée à une température différente. En passant de sole en sole, les copeaux se décomposent graduellement et les vapeurs qu'ils produisent sont soutirées à chaque étape. (...) Un système complexe de grattoirs achemine la matière pyrolysée vers le bas du réacteur où viennent se déposer les résidus solides.
