L'ensemble de Cantor le mieux connu, construit à partir d'un segment dont on retire le tiers médian, et dont on subdivise les segments ainsi obtenus en prélevant le tiers central de chacun d'entre eux et ainsi de suite à l'infini.

OBS

La dimension fractale de cet ensemble est D = 0,631... Celle d'une poussière bidimensionnelle est D = 1,26... et celle d'un tamis cantorien, D = 1,89... Le néologisme «poussière de Cantor» a été crée par B. Mandelbrot.
