OBS

L'existence des régions aréiques est commandée par la combinaison de deux facteurs : un climat sec, désertique ou subdésertique, et des roches très perméables (sables). Même au cœur du Sahara, les étendues de roches cohérentes ou d'argile sont l'objet d'un ruissellement éphémère des eaux courantes et subissent leur action de ravinement. Seuls les champs de dunes, actuelles ou anciennes, sont aréiques.
