Camptocormie vient du grec, kamptein : courber et kormos : le tronc,, il s'agit donc d'une attitude en antéflexion du tronc. [...] On parle de la camptocormie pour la première fois en 1916, comme une conversion hystérique, surtout chez les soldats qui ne veulent pas retourner au front. En 1992 cependant on en reparle chez des personnes âgées, parfois associée à une anamnèse familiale positive, très souvent associée à une dégénérescence graisseuse des muscles paraspinaux, irrégulièrement associée à une biopsie musculaire inflammatoire.
