Invisiblization. This is a process that has much in common with marginalization, but refers specifically to how groups are represented in language and imagery. The basic idea is that powerful, dominant groups are constantly presented to us - for example through the media - and are strongly associated with positions of power, status, prestige and influence, while other groups are rarely, if ever, seen in this light - it is as if they have been rendered invisible. 1, record 16, English, - invisiblization

Antigenic shift occurs when major changes in genetic material have occurred. This usually occurs when cells are infected with two different strains of influenza virus at the same time. This co-infection is of concern when it involves viruses from different species (human, avian, swine, or equine). Because of the segmented RNA [ribonucleic acid] in the virus (8 genes) movement of genes from one virus to another are possible. This antigenic shift can then create a new hybrid virus which can become pathogenic to a different species. 1, record 62, English, - hybrid%20virus

3, record 62, French, - virus%20hybride

The Spanish flu pandemic is the catastrophe against which all modern pandemics are measured. Many people died from this very quickly.
