L'arbitrage de taux d'intérêt cherche à tirer profit des mouvements et des déformations de la courbe des taux : arbitrages intra-courbe, arbitrages inter-pays, etc. Cette approche ne se concentre pas sur la composante crédit et utilise principalement comme véhicules les titres d'État, les futurs sur taux d'intérêt et les swaps. Les différences de prix sur ces instruments sont très souvent faibles (quelques points de base), ce qui justifie l'utilisation en général d'un effet de levier très important.
