Record 1 2006-05-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Petrography
  • Iron and Manganese Mining
DEF

A soft, incompetent, fine-grained mass of quartz, pyrolusite, and kaolin with subangular fragments of chert, hematite, and goethite.

CONT

Leached slate beds vary from white to pink or deep red and are known as "paint rock". The intimate intergrowths of iron oxide and aluminous clay or silica make these ores difficult to beneficiate.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Pétrographie
  • Mines de fer et de manganèse
CONT
