Some purists feel that the terms "drive" and "forehand drive" should strictly imply a ball hit with a lot of pace to win a point outright, regardless of the type of spin used to accomplish this. The terms "shot" and "stroke", however, are more neutral and need not imply any added pace (e.g. drop shot).
