A material consisting of microscopic cells that can be turned from white to black and vice versa with the application of a small electric charge allowing electronically stored text to appear on a paper-like substance.

CONT

Electronic ink is a liquid substance ... that responds to electrical impulses to enable changeable text and image displays on a flexible surface. Electronic ink will be used for applications such as e-books, electronic newspapers, portable signs, and foldable, rollable displays. Electronic ink consists of millions of tiny capsules filled with dark dyes and containing negatively charged white chips, floating in a substance like vegetable oil.

Les encres conductrices sont des encres particulières conçues pour conduire l'électricité. Elles sont à base d'ions métalliques ou de polymères organiques [qui] permettent d'imprimer des circuits électroniques sur divers types de matériaux et de rendre des objets communicants ou capables de mémoriser des informations. Elles sont utilisées pour produire les circuits de l'électronique imprimée.

Les textes et les images ainsi affichés demeurent visibles après la suppression du champ électrique.

Elle est composée de milliers de microcapsules qui changent de couleur à volonté. Chaque microcapsule voit ses particules blanches migrer en fonction de la polarité du champ électrique, formant soit un point blanc, soit un point bleu.
