The FIPA is an independent network made up of the national legislatures of those governments who are members of the Organization of American States (OAS). FIPA members are committed to promoting parliamentary participation in the inter-American system and to developing inter-parliamentary dialogue on issues of importance to the hemisphere. FIPA seeks to encourage the sharing of experiences and best practices amongst it's members and works to strengthen the role of legislatures in democratic development and to promote harmonization of legislation and hemispheric integration as instruments of sustainable and harmonious development in the region.

Les membres du FIPA se sont engagés à promouvoir la participation des parlementaires dans le système interaméricain et à amorcer un dialogue interparlementaire sur les grandes questions qui touchent l'hémisphère. Le FIPA cherche à favoriser le partage d'expériences et de meilleures pratiques entre ses membres et s'attache à renforcer le rôle des assemblées nationales dans le développement démocratique et de favoriser l'harmonisation des lois et l'intégration hémisphérique comme instruments de développement durable et harmonieux dans la région.

Los miembros del FIPA se han comprometido a promover la participación parlamentaria en el sistema interamericano y entablar un diálogo interparlamentario para tratar temas importantes para todo el hemisferio. El FIPA impulsa el intercambio de experiencias y mejores prácticas entre sus miembros al mismo tiempo que trabaja para fortalecer el papel de las legislaturas en el desarrollo democrático y promover la armonización de la legislación y la integración hemisférica como instrumentos de desarrollo sostenible y armonioso en la región.
