P and W [Pratt and Whitney] has managed to defend its position in the 747 market by offering the JT9D-7Q [engine] combining the machinery of the -70 with a core-mounted gearbox and a slimmer cowling. Pratt et Whitney a réussi à défendre sa position en offrant le JT9D-7Q, qui combinait la mécanique du JT9D-70 avec un relais d'accessoires monté sur le générateur de gaz, et un carénage plus effilé.
