In the communication spectrum of frequencies or wavelengths, that portion which lies between 3 and 30 gigahertz (GHz) or between 1 and 10 centimetres (cm).

Designations are classed as follows - 1. ITU band designator: 10; 2. American designator and name: SHF - super high frequency; 3. Metric subdivision: centimetric waves.

super high frequency; SHF: term and abbreviation standardized by the Glossary for Pilots and Air Traffic Services Personnel Committee and officially approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Dans certains milieux opérationnels, il faudra tolérer l'abréviation américaine «SHF», mais le calque de l'américain «super-haute fréquence» est déconseillé.
