Sharp changes in temperature occur along this coastline during sudden wind changes. Winds from the N (Sondos) are hot and oppressive in summer, while S and W winds are cool and bracing. There is a sudden drop in temperature at the onset of a Pampero.

zonda ... The name seems to apply to two winds of quite different origin. The most common use is for a dry foehn wind descending the eastern slopes of the Andes in the central Argentine in winter ...

Le Zonda est un vent typique de la région, de type foehn, très chaud (sa température se situe autour de 30° C) et très sec (humidité relative inférieure à 10 %). Or même s'il ne souffle que sporadiquement, il sévit de juillet à octobre, avec une fréquence particulière à l'époque de la floraison des arbres fruitiers, ce qui entrave la pollinisation en raison de la déshydratation du tube pollinique provoquée par ce vent.
