Portion de l'aorte qui prolonge l'arc ou la crosse aortique qui divise le diaphragme en aorte thoracique et en aorte abdominale.

CONT

L'aorte thoracique ou aorte descendante, suit la face antérieure de la colonne vertébrale et émet de nombreuses ramifications vers la paroi thoracique, avant de traverser le diaphragme. En entrant dans la cavité abdominale, elle prend le nom d'aorte abdominale. Cette portion de l'aorte dessert les parois abdominales et les viscères puis donne naissance aux artères iliaques communes droite et gauche.
