Fluorescencia: Radiación visible emitida por ciertas sustancias al ser iluminadas por radiaciones invisibles como la ultravioleta. Ejemplos de aplicación de la fluorescencia a la seguridad de documentos son las fibras fluorescentes incorporadas en el papel, así como tintas fluorescentes presentes en muchos billetes, cheques y tarjetas de plástico.
