Les coupes des puits situés dans l'intérieur du réseau [karstique] sont analogues à celles des avens ouverts à l'extérieur. [...] Lorsque la tenue des bancs calcaires est encore moindre et que des effondrements se produisent facilement à la voûte, on obtient un profil «en cloche»; dans ce cas, par suite de l'érosion remontante, il est fréquent que le sommet du puits se trouve assez haut au-dessus de la galerie latérale d'amenée des eaux.
