The Caribbean Community (CARICOM), which included the Caribbean Common Market, was established by the Treaty of Chaguaramas in 1973. CARICOM replaced the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA), which ceased to exist on May 1,1974. La Communauté des Caraïbes (CARICOM) a été établie par le Traité de Chaguaramas le 4 juillet 1973.
