DEF

A moraine perpendicular to the direction of ice flow, formed of a succession of low, relatively narrow, regularly spaced ridges.

CONT

In areas where the receding ice sheet or glacier bordered on a glacial lake or fronted in the sea, a succession of discontinuous, discrete ridges were formed that are straight to broadly arcuate. Such ridges denoting ice-frontal positions in former water bodies are termed De Geer moraines.

OBS

A descriptive term used for this type of moraine is "washboard moraine."

DEF
