La LLLTV peut être équipée d'un filtre de façon à fonctionner dans la région des ultraviolets et donner une image dans les ultraviolets analogue à celle d'un détecteur thermographique. Lorsqu'elle est utilisée dans le spectre visible, la LLLTV permet de photographier les noms des navires ou d'autres caractéristiques permettant de les identifier dans une ambiance proche de l'obscurité.
