Une cellule de flottation est une cuve au fond de laquelle une turbine à arbre vertical placé dans un tube brasse la pulpe et y introduit des bulles d'air aspiré ou soufflé par le tube. Les bulles récoltent le minerai en remontant à la surface, où elles se rassemblent en une écume minéralisée que l'on évacue par débordement.
