Excess storage of fat located primarily in the buttocks and thighs.

CONT

The two main types of obesity are categorized according to body fat distribution and are designated android or central obesity and gynoid or peripheral obesity. Individuals with android obesity have the majority of their fat deposits located in the abdominal area whereas individuals with gynoid obesity have their major fat deposits located subcutaneously in their lower body (hips and lower extremities).
