La puissance fournie par un aérogénérateur dépend de la surface balayée par l'hélice quand elle tourne. Les hélices bipales, plus légères, tournent en principe plus vite et ont un rendement plus élevé que les tripales. [...] Les hélices bipales sont conçues pour fournir de l'électricité par l'intermédiaire d'un générateur.

Dans la plupart des modèles, l'hélice bipale est en alliage d'acier inoxydable.
