The IRS/CIS Project was developed to improve the Indian Registration System (IRS) and its user access and to introduce a more secure and dignified Certificate of Indian Status. The Project includes 4 phases, which are (1) an enhancement of the Alberta Treaty 7 Pilot Project, (2) re-engineering the IRS, (3) national implementation of the re-engineered IRS, and (4) national implementation of the new secure status card. Le projet SII/CSI a été développé afin d'améliorer le Système d'inscription des Indiens et l'accès des utilisateurs aux données du SII et de remplacer la carte existante par un Certificat du statut d'Indien (CSI) plus sûr et plus convenable. Le projet est divisé en 4 étapes dont la première étape est de l'amélioration du projet pilote de CSI des Premières nations assujetties au Traité 7, la deuxième étape est de la refonte du SII, la troisième étape est de la mise en œuvre du SII à l'échelle nationale et la quatrième étape est de la mise en œuvre et du déploiement du CSI à l'échelle nationale.
