Overnight arrivals to Western Canada from Japan have fallen by more than 5 per cent during the first half of 2000, compared with the same period last year. While arrivals to Central Canada have remained almost unchanged, the decline in Japanese visitors to Alberta and B.C. has created a 3.3 per cent overall national decline in arrivals from that market.

Les arrivées dans l'Ouest du Canada pour un voyage de plus de 24 heures en provenance du Japon ont chuté de plus de 5 p. 100 au cours du premier semestre de 2000 par comparaison à la même période l'année dernière. Bien que les arrivées au Canada central soient demeurées à peu près inchangées, la baisse du nombre de visiteurs japonais en Alberta et en Colombie-Britannique a entraîné à l'échelle nationale une diminution de 3,3 p. 100 des arrivées en provenance de ce marché.
