The traditional calcium acid sulfite cook must be carried out at a low pH of about 1.5 because of the relative insolubility of calcium. A higher pH would cause sealing compounds to precipitate during cooking, leading to a condition known as "liming up" of the digester (i.e., the reaction vessel). 1, record 2, English, - liming%20up

1, record 2, French, - entartrage

The sodium alkalinity of the sodium hypochlorite precipitates the hardness of the dilution water in preparation tanks; it can result in the furring of pipes and feeding equipment. This can be remedied ... by placing in the tank on the occasion of each filling approximately 50g of hexametaphosphate of sodium to 100 litres of water. 1, record 3, English, - furring

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
1, record 3, French, - entartrage
