La marque de producteur peut, ou non, se confondre avec le nom commercial de l'entreprise. Certaines marques sont, stricto sensu, à la fois de producteur et de distributeur lorsque des entreprises produisent et vendent elles-mêmes certains produits. Par ex. SINGER.
