The Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (CCGA) volunteer organization was established in 1978/79 by the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) to enhance search and rescue capabilities in Canada. The Auxiliary assists the Coast Guard in the delivery of search and rescue (SAR) operational and prevention services. The Auxiliary is incorporated into six non-profit corporations namely: 1 .CCGA - Newfoundland Inc. -2. CCGA - Maritimes Inc. -3.C CGA - Laurentian Inc. -4. CCGA - Central and Arctic Inc. -5. CCGA - Pacific Inc.; and 6. a CCGA National Incorporation responsible for directing the activities of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliaries.
