The associated transition to weak turbulence has gained an irreducible space-time dimension for which the term phase turbulence has been coined (Kuramoto and Tsuzuki, 1976).

Par opposition à cette «turbulence intrinsèque», nous venons de rencontrer, dans le cas des grandes boîtes, une turbulence liée au chaos spatial de la structure. Pour rappeler son origine, liée à la perpétuelle variation de la position, donc de la phase des rouleaux, baptisons ce nouveau type de turbulence «turbulence de phase».
