A licence differs in its essentials from an assignment. A licence, even though exclusive, does not give the licensee all the rights of the patentee. A licence does not set up rights as between the licensee and the public, but only permits him to do acts that he would otherwise be prohibited from doing. He obtains merely a right of user. 5, record 2, English, - licensee

It might have been thought that in a sale of specific goods there would be an implied condition on the part of the seller that the goods were in existence at the time when the contract was made. Since the seller warrants, as we shall see shortly, that he has a right to sell the goods, and since he is in many cases responsible for defects in the quality of the goods, it might seem that a fortiori he should be liable if he has sold non-existent goods. 1, record 4, English, - non%2Dexistent%20goods

Micromanipulators are devices for positioning and manipulating microminiature objects such as surgical tools, electrical probes, and fiber optics. To see and contact microminiature objects, micromanipulators must be used in conjunction with microvisualization equipment (high-magnification microscopes). In the field of microelectronics, very-high-resolution optical microscopy is combined with mechanical micromanipulators to provide systems capable of visualizing and positioning electrical probes on elements of 1 micron dimension. Optical components with resolution approaching the limits of visible light (1000X) are used with manipulators of the leadscrew, ball-joint design, and 100-thread-per-inch resolution to provide X-, Y-, and Z-axis positioning sensitivity of about 0.7 microns per degree. Micromanipulator systems may be used to perform a broad range of functions including electrical microprobing of integrated circuits (ICs). 2, record 6, English, - micromanipulator

We examine how synthetic dynamic nanostructured surfaces control the attachment of pathogenic biofilms. The parameters governing long-range patterning of bacteria on high-aspect-ratio (HAR) nanoarrays are combinatorially elucidated, and we discover that sufficiently low effective stiffness of these HAR arrays mechanoselectively inhibits ~40% of Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm attachment. Inspired by the active echinoderm skin, we design and fabricate externally actuated dynamic elastomer surfaces with active surface microtopography. 1, record 9, English, - high%2Daspect%2Dratio
