Rapid condensation of steam is characteristic of steam unit heaters, especially during heating-up periods. The return piping must be planned to keep the heating coil free of condensate during periods of maximum heat output, and the steam piping must be able to carry a full supply of steam to the unit to take the place of that condensed.
