Real prices are those that have been adjusted to remove the effect of changes in the purchasing power of the dollar; they usually reflect buying power relative to a reference year. Prior to 1996, real prices were expressed in constant dollars, a measure based on the weights of goods and services in a single year, usually a recent year. In 1996, the U. S. [United States] Department of Commerce introduced the chained-dollar measure. The new measure is based on the average weights of goods and services in successive pairs of years. It is "chained" because the second year in each pair, with its weights, becomes the first year of the next pair. Merger and Acquisition Arbitrage. The most common type of risk arbitrage is the price inequalities that is created when a merger or acquisition is announced. Typically when this happens, the acquiring company's stock price usually drops in case the deal doesn’t go through, while the stock price of the company being acquired shoots up close to the offered price(usually at a significant premium to the current traded price). It is interesting to note(and the key to profiting from it) that while the stock price of the acquired company rises, it will never reach the full offered price because there is always a risk of the deal not happening. Choose a tree with a good strong root system, that is, with a healthy main root and many fine feeder roots. Being able to see the roots is the main advantage of buying bareroot!... It's very important to keep the roots of bareroot stock moist. Soaking the roots in a bucket of water for an hour before planting is an excellent idea. After this soaking, handle the tree quickly so it doesn’t dry out, especially if it's a windy day. Any bareroot stock bought before you’ve prepared a planting area should be heeled into a moist planting medium.
