Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The Lagrangian points... are the five positions in an orbital configuration where a small object affected only by gravity can theoretically be stationary relative to two larger objects(such as a satellite with respect to the Earth and Moon). The Lagrange points mark positions where the combined gravitational pull of the two large masses provides precisely the centripetal force required to rotate with them. They are analogous to geosynchronous orbits in that they allow an object to be in a "fixed" position in space rather than an orbit in which its relative position changes continuously. 3, fiche 2, Anglais, - halo%20orbit

Whereas RADARSAT-1 is a solely right-looking system, RADARSAT-2 will be outfitted with an antenna that can be steered electronically to acquire images to either the right or the left of the sub-satellite track... The switch from one look direction to the other is specified to take less than 10 minutes, that is, about one tenth of the time required to complete one full orbit. Although the look direction switching is an operational feature, the right-looking configuration is regarded as the default mode of operation. Hence, it is expected that about 75% of the imaging will be performed in this particular mode. The left-looking mode will be deployed on occasion; primarily to meet data requirements associated with Antarctic mapping and emergency situations(CSA, 2001). 4, fiche 4, Anglais, - right%2Dlooking%20sensor

Launch and early orbit phase. The launch phase involves a series of delicate operations not only for the... launcher, but also for the fully-assembled satellite... The launch phase... ends 18 minutes and 25 seconds after lift-off when the satellite separates from the launcher. The satellite, controlled by its onboard computer, then begins a series of automatic operations known as the "acquisition sequence". At the end of this sequence, the payload instruments are pointing earthward and the satellite's internal configuration is very close to that required for routine operations. 3, fiche 6, Anglais, - launch%20and%20early%20orbit%20phase

The PVR [Photovoltaic Radiator] is a critical component of the space station's thermal control system. It will cool the photovoltaic power system electronic equipment and the batteries used for power storage. The PVR will also provide environmental cooling for the service module during early phases of the space station. Each PVR Orbital Replacement Unit(ORU) consists of 7 radiator panels, each about 6 feet by 12 feet in size. The radiator panels are designed to deploy on orbit from a stowed position about 2 feet high to an extended position about 50 feet in length. Each ORU weighs about 1, 600 pounds, with a total of 4 units in the final space station configuration. 2, fiche 7, Anglais, - photovoltaic%20radiator
