chlorhydrate; hydrochlorure : Le terme «chlorhydrate» est un dérivé d'«acide chlorhydrique»; la terminaison en «-ate» est correcte ici. Une terminaison en «-ure» donnerait «chlorhydrure», ce qui est inacceptable (notons que «chlorhydrique» ne peut donner «hydrochlorure»); la règle est à l'effet de donner la terminaison «-ure» (en anglais : «-ide») aux anions (chargés négativement) monoatomiques, comme Cl0, et la terminaison «-ate» aux anions polyatomiques, dont HCl, qui porte le nom d'un anion sans en être un.
