Le Bellerive — Didacticiel sur les principales conventions typographiques françaises

The tutorial is organized in modules. The training tool allows you to choose the module that interests you.

To use the tutorial:

  • Choose a module in the Main Menu field or click on the Content Structure button to display a list of topics. It is strongly recommended that you study the modules in the order in which they are displayed on the screen.
  • Click on the scroll bar arrow to the right of the Main Menu field to see the list of modules offered. The training tool allows you to go directly to the module of your choice:
    • La division des mots (Word Division)
    • L'emploi de la majuscule (Capitalization)
    • L'écriture des nombres (Numerical Expressions)
    • L'usage de l'italique (Italics)
    • La ponctuation (Punctuation)
  • Click on the module that interests you; then click on the button Launch the search to the right of the Main Menu field to see the objectives of the module and the list of topics covered.
  • Click on a topic to display the corresponding grammar rules

To return to the module menu:

  • Click on the Menu du module (module menu) button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

All of the modules are laid out in the same way. The typical module sequence begins with a list of grammar points, each with a statement or explanation of the grammar rule, followed by a learning exercise. At the end of the module, there is an écran récapitulatif (summary screen) that summarizes various aspects of the grammar rule, followed by a test récapitulatif (comprehension test) to assess your knowledge.

Exercises

To begin the training offered in the selected module:

  • Click on the lesson that interests you. The first page of the lesson will appear with the grammar rule(s) and one or more examples.
  • Click on the Exercice (exercise) button to do the learning exercise.
  • To review the preceding rule or go directly to the following rule, click on either the Règle précédente button or the Règle suivante button.
  • To check your answers to the questions in the exercises, click on the Continuer (continue) button. The answer you gave is circled and the correct answer has a green check mark beside it. The tutorial allows you to review the rule or continue with the lesson.

Summaries and comprehension tests

An écran récapitulatif (summary) is displayed at the end of each lesson, along with a test récapitulatif (comprehension test) to measure your progress.

  • To return to the module menu after the test, and go to the next topic, click on the Menu du module button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. If you give incorrect answers, you will be invited to review a summary of the module and to repeat the test. The invitation only appears if you click on Continuer and not Menu du module.

At the end of the training session, an automatic bookmark will allow you to return to the lesson on the last page you visited.

As explained above, all the modules are laid out in the same way.
