Manitoban, Franco-Manitoban

A native or resident of Manitoba is a Manitoban.

  • The Right Honourable Edward Richard Schreyer was the first Manitoban to serve as governor general of Canada.

A French-speaking Manitoban is called a Franco-Manitoban.

  • In 1991, two-thirds of Franco-Manitobans lived in Winnipeg.

Whether used as nouns or adjectives, Manitoban and Franco-Manitoban are always capitalized, and Franco-Manitoban is hyphenated.

  • The Franco-Manitoban Cultural Centre is in St. Boniface.
