Law refers to statutes, general rules or natural principles.

  • Officers of the court are sworn to uphold the law.
  • The law states that you must be 18 years old to drive.
  • Physics is the study of the laws of nature.
  • Even airplanes are not immune to the law of gravity.

For a scientific law, only the author’s name is capitalized.

  • I vaguely remember studying Ohm’s law in high–school physics.
