CONT

Reactive Powder Concrete(RPC) is an ultrahigh-strength cementitious composite with advanced mechanical properties, superior physical characteristics and unprecedented ductility and extremely low permeability. It is composed of customary concrete components, which are selected for specific chemistry, particle size and hydraulic activity. RPC material can be mixed and placed under normal construction conditions and engineered to address specific casting requirements.

RPC was first developed in the early 1990’s by researchers at the laboratory of HDR’s former parent company, Bouygues S.A., Paris, France. Pierre Claude Aitcin, Scientific Director of Concrete Canada at the University of Sherbrooke, was instrumental in moving RPC from the lab to the field with the application of RPC on the Sherbrooke Pedestrian/Bikeway Bridge in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Bouygues was the lead designer on this project and HDR provided design consulting services.

Tous les constituants d'un BPR sont d'une granulométrie très fine (inférieure à 300 micromètres). Ce sont des sables, du ciment, des fumées de silice, du quartz broyé, l'ensemble étant malaxé avec le minimum d'eau grâce à l'adjonction de fluidifiants. Le BPR contient aussi des microfibres d'acier qui améliorent sa résistance en traction et sa ductilité. La résistance à la compression atteint 200 MPa, soit sept fois plus que pour un béton ordinaire. Après étuvage, elle atteint même 800 MPa.

Pour ce troisième millénaire, nous allons construire un phare de la paix haut de 150 mètres dans cette ville d'Alexandrie, berceau de la civilisation, en Egypte, un pays d'une grande culture. [...] La ville d'Alexandrie a accordé, sous la forme d'une concession de 99 ans, un espace dans l'eau, de 500 mètres qui devra être remblayé, à proximité du port-est de la ville, près de la corniche. «Il s'agira d'une structure en béton à poudre réactive, un nouveau procédé de la société française de bâtiment et travaux publics Bouygues, deux fois plus résistant que le béton normal et le tout sera recouvert de verre, ce qui donnera à l'ouvrage la forme d'un miroir la journée et d'une aiguille de lumière la nuit tombée», a expliqué le concepteur du projet, Jacques Darolles, directeur du Centre national des Arts et Technologies de Reims (CNATR).

Lorsqu'on remplace dans le béton une faible proportion de ciment par de la cendre volante, on constate : les tout premiers jours, une baisse de résistance à peu près proportionnelle au pourcentage de cendres ajoutées; à partir de sept jours et au-delà, une augmentation relative des résistances mécaniques. Cette valorisation par la cendre volante a été dénommée effet pouzzolanique.

GP 2000 Grout Pump. Description : The MBT GP2000 is a spiral(Rotor/Stator) pump used for mixing and pumping of cementitious grouts and the spraying of repair mortars and small volumes of shotcrete. It will deliver approximately 2m’ per hour of any pumpable material with an aggregate size up to 4mm. The stator has an adjustable clamp housing which maintains a constant output pressure and lengthens the service life of the pump parts. Recommended for : placement of grouts for encapsulating cables and rock anchors-particularly in mining applications, spraying of repair mortars, spraying of shotcrete.
