When a turbine comes to rest, after operating, the cooler denser steam tends to collect in the lower half of the cylinder and makes the lower half of the rotor cool quicker than the upper half. This causes the shaft to hog(bend upwards). When at rest and cool, the shaft will begin to sag under its own weight. If the turbine shaft is not rotated, hogging, especially above a critical temperature, can become permanent and the shaft would have to be sent to the manufacturer for heat treatment and straightening. 1, record 7, English, - hogging

1, record 7, French, - fl%C3%A9chissement%20vers%20le%20haut

The act authorized the formation of a private corporation to administer satellite communications for the United States. COMSAT was given responsability for many activities including the development of a global satellite communications system, the acquisition and maintenance of ground stations around the world, and the development of new satellite technologies. COMSAT is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the company's shareholders and the president of the United States. Half of the company's shares are owned by major companies such as AT and T, ITT, and Western Union, and the rest are held by members of the public. Liability to capture. It was Lord Stowell who introduced in prize law the rule that forfeiture of the neutral vessel can only follow upon proof of knowledge by the shipowner of the contraband nature of the cargo. The true test of liability to capture was, in Lord Stowell' s view, the state of mind of the neutral claimant :... The Declaration of London elected to rest the principle of confiscation not on the knowledge of the owner, but on the relative proportion of contraband to the whole cargo. The ship is involved in all cases where she carries contraband goods which either in value, weight, quantity or freight exceed half of the whole cargo... 1, record 16, English, - liability%20to%20capture
