Actigraphy involves the recording of movement through an accelerometer attached to the wrist or ankle. The amount of movement is typically computer scored and represented in histogram form. The sleep-wake cycle is then illustrated by the frequency of movement throughout the day.... Actigraphy does not directly measure neural activity and can only record movement. 2, record 1, English, - actigraphy

Wind energy is the world's fastest growing renewable source of electricity … the atmospheric flows are strongly volatile, and therefore, the average wind speed at a given location is a very poor predictor of the energy output of a wind turbine. The basic requirement for wind power estimates is an adequate characterization of the empirical probability distribution of wind speeds since wind direction is less important because of the well developed methods of yaw control for modern turbines. The statistical description is highly simplified when a measured histogram can be accurately fitted by an analytical probability density function(PDF) with a few parameters. The traditional approach of modeling the wind speed PDF is based on the Rayleigh and the more flexible Weibull distributions. However, several authors noted that Weibull fits of empirical data have low quality at several locations, mostly over land. 4, record 14, English, - wind%20probability%20density%20function

4, record 16, French, - %C3%A9talement%20d%27histogramme

Linear contrast enhancement... linearly expands the original digital values of the remotely sensed data into a new distribution. By expanding the original input values of the image, the total range of sensitivity of the display device can be utilized. Linear contrast enhancement also makes subtle variations within the data more obvious. These types of enhancements are best applied to remotely sensed images with Gaussian or near-Gaussian histograms, meaning, all the brightness values fall within a narrow range of the histogram and only one mode is apparent. There are three methods of linear contrast enhancement : Minimum-Maximam Linear Contrast Stretch [;] Percentage Linear Contrast Stretch [and] Piecewise Linear Contrast Stretch. 2, record 19, English, - linear%20contrast%20enhancement
