Cup-stacked carbon nanotubes (CSCNTs) differ from other quasi-1D carbon structures, which normally behave as quasi-metallic conductors of electrons. CSCNTs exhibit semiconducting behaviors due to the stacking microstructure of graphene layers. 3, record 9, English, - cup%2Dstacked%20carbon%20nanofiber

While carbon nanotubes(CNT) and carbon nanofibers(CNF) are both hollow, nanometer in scale, and produced in a similar manner, there are distinct differences which significantly impact their performance and ability to be processed. The primary differences between the materials are morphology, size, ease of processing, and price. Carbon nanofibers, also known as Stacked-Cup Carbon Nanotubes(SCCNT), have a unique morphology in that graphene planes are canted from the fiber axis, resulting in exposed edge planes on the interior and exterior surfaces of the fiber. CNTs, on the other hand, typically resemble an assembly of concentric cylinders of graphene. To illustrate the difference in morphology, Figure 1... shows a side by side comparison of A) multi-walled carbon nanotubes [MWCNT] and B) stacked-cup carbon nanotubes.... Figure 1. A) Multi-wall CNTs are composed of concentric cylinders of graphene where the basal planes form an inert surface. B) The stacked-cup structure of CNF has exposed graphitic edge planes along its length, providing opportunities for chemical modification of the surface for covalent bonding directly with the matrix. 7, record 9, English, - cup%2Dstacked%20carbon%20nanofiber

Analysis of Molecular Variance(AMOVA) is a method for studying molecular variation within a species. Electrophoresis, one of the most widely used methods for studying the structure of DNA, produces data of the form of 0s and 1s where 1 denotes the presence of a band and zero its absence, e. g. Sample Band A 0101... B 1000... C 0110... AMOVA works on such data to create a distance matrix between samples in order to measure the genetic structure of a population. In statistical terms, AMOVA is a testing procedure based on permutational analysis and involves few assumptions. 3, record 10, English, - analysis%20of%20molecular%20variance

After periods of in vitro and in vivo culture, the transplanted tooth germ in the toothless gap area showed bioengineered tooth with supportive structure formation. As the richer ores of gold(and other metals) are depleted, it is necessary for mining companies to focus on low-grade refractory gold-bearing ores in which the gold is encapsulated in the crystal structure of a sulphide matrix(typically pyrite). These ores cannot be broken down by cyanidation without an oxidative pre-treatment such as nitric acid oxidation, roasting, pressure oxidation or biological oxidation using microorganisms.

CMC Blisk Material Development and Testing. Engineers at MSFC are developing fabrication processes and designs for ceramic matrix composite(CMC) components through material and component testing, structural modeling, microscopy, and nondestructive analysis techniques. CMCs will be utilized extensively on future generation launch vehicles for propulsion systems and for vehicle hot structure. They are necessary to enable lightweight components capable of operating over a wide temperature range. These advantages translate into increased safety and lower cost compared to state-of-the-art materials. MSFC is primarily responsible for developing CMCs and transitioning them into propulsion applications such as cooled and radiation cooled flow paths, thrust chambers, integrally bladed disks(blisks) and nozzles. Hot structures for leading edge and control surface applications are also supported. 2, record 23, English, - hot%20structure

1, record 31, French, - matrice%20abiotique

The ratio of the applied excitation force phasor to the resulting velocity phasor with all other connection points of the system free, i.e. having zero restraining forces. Free impedance is the arithmetic reciprocal of a single element of the mobility matrix. 1, record 32, English, - free%20impedance

Historically, often no distinction has been made between blocked impedance and free impedance. Caution should, therefore, be exercised in interpreting published data. While experimentally determined free impedances could be assembled into a matrix, this matrix would be quite different from the blocked impedance matrix, resulting from mathematical modelling of the structure and, therefore, would not conform to the requirements for using mechanical impedance in a overall theoretical analysis of the system. 1, record 32, English, - free%20impedance

1, record 32, French, - imp%C3%A9dance%20libre
