The Metis Settlements Appeal Tribunal(MSAT) was established on November 1, 1990 with the proclamation of the Metis Settlements Act. MSAT is a quasi-judicial body set up to hear evidence and make decisions to settle disputes about membership, land dealings, surface rights and any other matter where the parties involved agree to let the Tribunal resolve the issue.
