The Convention of the Metre(Convention du Mètre) is a diplomatic treaty which gives authority to the General Conference on Weights and Measures(CGPM), the International Committee for Weights and Measures(CIPM) and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures(BIPM) to act in matters of world metrology, range and diversity, and the need to demonstrate equivalence between national measurement standards.
