During the 60 days immediately prior to shipment, the racehorse was stabled on premises that had no evidence of vesicular stomatitis, equine encephalomyelitis, coital exanthema, equine infectious anemia, equine influenza, equine viral arteritis, stangles, equine rhinopneumonitis, equine paratyphoid, contagious equine metritis, equine piroplasmosis, or West Nile fever for that period, and had itself not shown clinical evidence of any of these diseases for that period.

There is heat and pain at the coronets and in bad cases protrusion of the third phalanx through the sole of the hoof. Most cases are caused by severe toxaemia, as in engorgement on grain or metritis in the mare, and are called metabolic laminitis. Some are caused by trauma, such as in pawing due to boredom or in horses transported over long distances without rest, and are called traumatic laminitis.

a syndrome which occurs in sows that have farrowed for 12 to 48 hours.... It is manifested by an indeterminate set of signs including anorexia, lethargy, fever, agalactia, swelling of mammary glands, constipation and a marked disinterest in the piglets. There is always a mastitis, most often caused by Escherichia coli, but a variety of gram-negative organisms can be involved. Metritis is a rare occurrence.
