Primary disinfection is the application of a disinfectant in the drinking water treatment plant, with a primary objective to achieve the necessary microbial inactivation. The efficacy of disinfection using chlorine can be predicted based on a knowledge of the residual free chlorine concentration, temperature, pH, and contact time. This relationship is commonly referred to as the CT concept and is used by public drinking water suppliers as one tool for ensuring adequate inactivation of organisms during disinfection. CT is the product of the residual concentration of disinfectant(C), measured in mg/L at the outlet of the contact chamber, and the disinfectant contact time(T), measured in minutes. The CT values required to achieve the necessary inactivation will depend on the microorganism targeted, pH, and temperature. 1, record 1, English, - CT%20concept

4, record 1, French, - crit%C3%A8re%20CT

In order to prepare efficient immobilized E. coli cells, the type and concentration of bifunctional reagent for cross-linking and the concentration of acrylamide monomer for lattice formation were investigated systematically. Columns can be operated in an expanded bed form at higher flow rates, so preventing fouling and compression and improving mass transfer. Alternatively packed biocatalyst particles can be used in a trickle-flow mode as in some waste-water processes employing microbial flocs.... Packed columns allow a high concentration of biocatalyst to be used. The product molecules or other inhibitors produced during the reaction are constantly swept out of the reactor so that the concentration of products are minimized-so less product inhibition occurs.... The decay of enzyme columns packed with immobilized enzyme or immobilized microbial cells generally proceeds in an exponential pattern related to operating time. 2, record 6, English, - enzyme%20column

1, record 6, French, - colonne%20d%27enzyme

Spores of Aspergillus oryzae were immobilized by using CM-cellulose, P-cellulose, DEAE-cellulose or ECTEOLA-cellulose, and the invertase activity of the immobilized spore column was measured. The reaction rate decreased somewhat when the column length increased above a certain range. It may be considered that the reaction product is subsequently decomposed by other contaminating enzymes in the column. Thus in the case of immobilized microbial cells, it is necessary to consider side reactions catalyzed by other enzymes existing in the system. 3, record 7, English, - side%20reaction

4, record 7, French, - r%C3%A9action%20secondaire
