What is PIT tagging?... A PIT [passive integrated transponder] tag is an electronic microchip encased in biocompatible glass [that is] injected with a 12-gauge needle or inserted by surgical incision under the animal' s skin, usually into [the] muscle or the body cavity. [It serves] as a permanent coded marker that is equivalent to a social security number[, ] and [it is] as reliable as a fingerprint for identification of an individual. 4, record 1, English, - passive%20integrated%20transponder%20tagging

Several important assumptions must be met before using mark-recapture methods to estimate population abundance and mortality. These assumptions include :(1) the tagged fish are representative of the population from which mortality information is sought,(2) there is no emigration of tagged fish,(3) the number of tagged fish that are released is known exactly,(4) there are no tag losses and no misread tags,(5) survival rates are not affected by tagging, and(6) that the fate of each individual tagged fish is independent of other tagged individuals, among other assumptions... 1, record 2, English, - mark%2Drecapture%20method

programming information into the tags after the tag has been shipped from the manufacturer to an OEM customer or end user or in some cases to the manufacturer’s distribution locations 1, record 4, English, - field%20programming
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Field programming usually occurs before the tag is installed on the object to be identified. This approach enables the introduction of data relevant to the specifics of the application into the tag at any time; however, the tag would typically have to be removed from its object. In some cases, change or duplication of all data in the tag is possible. In other cases, some portion is reserved for factory programming. This might include a unique tag serial number, for example. Field programming is usually associated with Write Once Read Many(WORM) and read/write(RW) devices. The data entered into a transponder may be by a combination of factory and field programming. 1, record 4, English, - field%20programming

Record number: 11, Textual support number: 1 CONT
With RTF, the reader sends energy to the tags and asks all tags with serial number 0 to respond. If more than one responds, the reader then asks for all tags with a serial number that starts with 01 to respond, and then 010. The reader continues in this fashion until it gets a singular response. An EPC tag is an RFID [radio frequency identification] device that consists of a microchip and an antenna attached to a substrate which is physically attached to an item. The unique EPC for this item is stored within the memory of the tag. 4, record 16, English, - EPC%20tag
Record number: 16, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The EPC tag itself identifies the manufacturer, product, version, and serial number. It's the serial number that takes EPC to the next level by providing the key to data related to specific lots/batches/units. It potentially allows you to track the specific unit's history as it moves through the supply chain. 5, record 16, English, - EPC%20tag

1, record 18, English, - field%20programming

2, record 18, French, - programmation%20sur%20le%20terrain

Touch football derives its name from the fact that touching(tagging) the ballcarrier rather than tackling him is the method used to stop his advancement. This is a passing game rather than a kicking game... variations still exist with respect to number of players [from 6 to 11 players or more], distances to be gained for a first down [local rules may specify 20 yards], total number of downs [on a small field a team may be permitted 5 downs] and length of game [agreed to beforehand by the teams involved].... A ballcarrier is considered downed when he is touched--that is, when one or both hands of the defending player tag him, usually above the waist. Offensive players may run interference for the ballcarrier but may not hit an opponent so as to knock him down.... Padded uniforms, helmets, and cleats are not worn, because the chance of injury is slight. 2, record 19, English, - touch%20football

Metal dog tags bearing a soldier's name, rank and serial number for identification in case of death date to the early part of the century, when battles were still being fought with bullets and bayonets. But combatants in today's wars are not just killed, they are sometimes obliterated, dog tags and all. So the U. S. Army began collecting blood and tissue samples from new recruits, part of an ambitious "genetic dog tag" program that will eventually allow pathologists to identify the smallest tissue specimens by cross-matching to genetic samples stored on file. The Pentagon aims to collect specimens from all 2 million active service members by the year 2000. 1, record 21, English, - DNA%20dog%20tag
